Last week was a great week, I had the pleasure again of being invited to Play in the MW pro-am for a third year running at the stunning PGA Catalunya golf club Spain.
I had been invited by a few Lindrick Members to play a four round event, around the stadium and Tour courses, this is a great warm up for me to see where my game is before I start my golf season, also getting more experience around these courses for European Tour School later on this year.
We arrived a few days early before the event started to play a few local golf courses close to our accommodation warming our self's up for the big challenge around two great golf courses at Catalunya.
The tournament began with a solid start with 37 points around the Tour course, following with 32 points around the Stadium course.
Both golf courses were in great condition, the hardest challenge was getting used to the pace of the greens as in some places it was impossible to stop the ball.
The weather conditions changed slightly for the last two rounds, higher winds and temperatures dropped, my wooly hat and mittens came out which I never expected to happen in Spain.
I performed much better on the 3rd round as my game came together nicely and signed for a score of 40 points. My final round was slightly disappointing with a score of 29 points, the conditions were tough and my game wasn't quite there.
It was a good week for me to play in tournament golf conditions, I finished up in 8th place over all and the team finished middle of the field. This week has helped me see where my game is, identify any weaknesses and highlight strengths before I start my golf season on the Euro Pro Tour in a few weeks time. I am now looking forward to my next pro -am which is at Lindrick on the 23rd March and I feel my golf game is moving in the right direction as I have shown lots of progress. I now have a few weeks to fine tune my golf game, building some consistency to shoot lower numbers.
