This weeks Euro pro tour event was held at Close House golf club Newcastle, This is a great golf course and was in stunning condition. ( love to be a member!!)
I felt very confident heading into this event, I arrived on Monday in the official practice round and was fortunate to have a place in the Pro am on the Tuesday which was great preparation and I was playing very well. The course was playing very similar to last year so I had a clear course strategy.
Round one begun, the weather was great, clear skies and a slight breeze which were perfect scoring condition's, I had great control of my ball and gave myself several birdie chances but unfortunately not able to convert. I scored 72 +1 which wasn't a bad score by all means and positioned me only 5 behind the leader over night.
Round two was moving day, rain had been forecast ed for the day so I felt if I could shoot level or a couple under par I could climb the leader board. Again It was the same story for me, I played fantastic again tee to green but struggled to hole any putts, I carded a round of 73 to miss the cut by one stroke.
The last few weeks have been a struggled with the putter and very frustrating playing so well but not shooting low rounds which I feel I deserve. A few lessons required this weekend and get my putter working for next weeks event at the Army Golf Club.
I am currently still in the top 10 of the Order of merit and feeling hopeful a win is around the corner.
First of all I do apologise for such a late update to my blog....
It has been a very busy 4-5 weeks playing the Euro Pro Tour schedule, I have played 4 events in this space of time. I have traveled to London then on to Newcastle and the last two events have been in Scotland.
After my great 2nd place finish on my first event, confidence and belief in my ability was definitely on a high which is a great feeling to have especially early on in the season.
My second event of the season was the IFX International Championship held at Burhill Golf club.
This was a golf course I had played several times over the years and was in fabulous condition and with the weather set to be dry all week, we was in for a treat.
I felt I posted two average rounds of golf, it was a little struggle for me this week as my golf swing felt a little out of sort and alien to me. With a 36 hole score of +1 I unfortunately missed the cut by one stroke.
My next event was Final Open qualifying at Woburn Golf Club, this was a new experience for me as I had never managed to get past first stage qualifying.
I played a practice round the day prior and was completely blown away by the quality of the golf course, this has to be one of the best Id ever played, it got even better as I played 6 holes with European Tour star Paul Dunne.
Round one began and my week got even better, I had the pleasure of being in Robert Rocks group for 36 holes! I played very well all day and posted two great scores under par, I was very happy with my performance, my score was 3 shots off the top 3 qualifying spots. As much as I would of loved to qualify I couldn't be disappointed with myself, the experience I had today playing with a European tour golfer was fantastic.
Next event is Longhirst Hall Northumberland .
