Very frustrating day at Moortown Golf Club, I played very steady golf today but didnt manage to hit it close enough to give myself many birdie chances. I managed to find a few divots and poor lies throughout the round which didn't help my scoring but that's golf! My Distance control was not the best today on several occasions, 14th 16th and 17th In particular I dropped shots from being no further than 150 yards away. Overall I am disappointed with the score but managed to pick money up again. I will learn from my mistakes and now looking forward to my next event.
Mentmore was this weeks venue for Jamega Tour, the golf course was in great condition and greens running smooth and fast . I got off too a flying start to the tournament shooting 67 (-5) in some very windy testing conditions, my score was good enough to have a 1 shot lead and be over night leader for the tournament.
Day two didn't get off too a flying start, a struggle on the front nine put me back to -3 after 27 holes. It was a frustrating day as the birdie putts didn't drop like they did in round 1 , I gave myself plenty of chances but didn't convert any . I stayed patient and just kept putting myself in good positions, the putter came to life at the end of the day and I managed to Finnish my round with 3 birdies on 16,17 and 18 to Finnish off with a 71 (-1).
I learnt a lot from this tournament and hopefully take this form to my next tournament.
Another great venue on Jamega Tour at Five Lakes Golf Club.
I felt very confident going into this event as I had been playing solid and preparing myself very well for this event.
I was disappointed with my 1st round as I missed a lot of chances and made a few silly 3 putts and poor decisions.
Shooting 3 over par 75 was not the start I wanted , I knew it was near impossible to win this event from the position I was in.
The second round I played the course with same strategy as day one and made sure I took advantage of the par 5s. A good front 9 put me in position for a low score, a lost ball on the 13th hole was a big set back as it wasn't a bad tee shot, just very unfortunate!
I was very pleased birding 4 of the last 5 holes too Finnish with a score of 67 and too Finnish the tournament at -2. I am happy with my game these past two events, finishing under par for both tournaments is always a big confidence boost. Looking forward to my next event at Mentmore Golf Club.
