Starting to find some form....
Today’s competition was a one day event on the Eagle Tour held at the stunning Wollaton Park golf club Nottinghamshire. This is the first time I have played on this new midland based tour and I have to say it is very well run by former European tour star Stuart Davis. The golf course was in excellent condition as usual, the greens were top class, by far the best I’ve played on this year.
I had a great start to the day, giving myself several easy birdie chances on the first 6 holes with no drop shots, I made birdies on holes 4 and 8, but making two silly errors on holes 7 and 9 I was level par at the turn.
Feeling very comfortable with my game on the front nine, I felt I could post a good number on the back nine to get myself back up there to have a chance of winning. I plotted myself very well around the course on the last 6 holes, managing to birdie 3 of the last 4 holes. I was happy to sign for a 67 (-4).
I have taken lots of positives from today’s performance, it was very nice to win, a big confidence boost for next week’s first Euro Pro Tour event in Oxford.
