My first Euro Pro event started at Montrose Golf Club Scotland. After a 340 mile drive to the venue, it was a pleasant day as the sun was shining with a touch of breeze from the sea, perfect links conditions!
It was a great practice round, the golf course looked short on the planner but the wind definitely added lots of yardage!, I'm a huge fan of links golf courses and Montrose is up there with the best. Unfortunately day 1 was a disaster poor weather set in, only 40 players managed to get some holes played before the foggy weather set in for the day, I was one of many who couldn't play. Day 1 it was a full day sat in the clubhouse. After more fog the following day, my tee time was delayed a further 4 hours, the fog cleared and then heavy rain and strong winds set in the for day. It wasn't the most enjoyable or pleasant round of golf I have played, but with my Dad on the bag he kept me and my equipment dry. I signed the card for a solid round of 73 (+2) making the cut by one stroke. Day two was a much better day, it was dry and visibility was ten times better. I played very steady golf tee to green, I wish I could say the same about my putting but the I couldn't convert the birdie chances, it was definitely a frustrating day but was very enjoyable playing a great golf course. Overall I finished T37th playing good golf but far from my best. ( Off for a putting lesson with coach!)
I am now looking forward to my next event which is on The Jamega Tour.
