Great week in desert springs
The last event of the year on my golf schedule was played last week in sunny Spain at the beautiful dessert springs golf club for the PGA Euro Pro Tour Championships.
I comfortably qualified for this event by finishing in the top 60 of this year’s order of merit after playing 13 events during the summer playing at various venues around the UK. My main goal for the year was to finish in the Top 5 of the order of merit to gain a Challenge tour card for 2017 season, as I was in 20th place going into the event I needed to win or finish 2nd at worse.
After weeks of hard work and great preparation for this event I was feeling very confident with my golf game and couldn’t wait to get out there and compete. Instead of going into all the details of each round the whole summery of the tournament was a sight disappointment. I feel I played some of the best golf I’ve played all year, but couldn’t quite get the ball in the hole!
I gave myself several birdie chances, only missing 7 greens in regulation over 54 holes, so that shows how well I was playing tee to green. It was easy to suggest my putting was not on form at all during the week and that’s the difference between competing and not.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Dessert Springs Golf Club, 2016 Has been a great year for myself and my golf development.Overall his year I am proud to say I have finished 22nd in the PGA Euro pro order of merit which is the best I’ve achieved since turning professional in 2014.
I would like to say a massive thank you to my sponsors - Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Members at Lindrick Golf club for your help again this season.
I can’t wait to start the 2017 golf season, it will soon be here! In the mean time I have lots of hard work to do on my golf game to get ready to win next year.
